Exercise Physiologist, Pilates teacher and Strength & Conditioning coach
I’m Liz Hewett, an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Pilates teacher and Strength & Conditioning coach.
I work with people who have musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, by taking them through a nurturing exercise experience that encourages rehabilitation, strength & conditioning, enjoyable movement and education.
I also work with healthy athletic people who seek a detailed, highly individualised and tailored approach to their exercise training.
Exercise that is specific to each person’s injuries or health condition is very effective and works like medicine.
Physical inactivity is the major health problem of our time, and is now the 4th leading risk factor for mortality. However we live in a world that is increasingly constrained when it comes to prioritising physical activity.
Being physically inactive causes health issues including musculoskeletal pain and conditions, which in itself causes a vicious cycle of an additional loss of physical activity.
At the other extreme, an active athletic lifestyle requires a careful, balanced approach ensuring that all the requirements of a sport are included in the training regime, together with the challenging juggle of work and family commitments.
I have been practising a combination of training as an Exercise Physiologist and Pilates teacher for 20 years, including 8 years as the Strength and Conditioning Co-ordinator for The Australian Ballet School.
The combination of my training and experience allows me to provide a forensic approach to your specific situation in the initial consultation. I dive into your body like a detective to work out what is going on and how we can improve it.
With this knowledge, I am able to provide guidance that is specific to your injury or condition and completely tailored to your life in everyway.
This might include gym or Pilates training or both, or an individualised gym or home exercise program.
Through this combination of physical training, we work as a team in a nurturing, educative approach to a whole body health experience that encourages freedom of movement.
Everyone should be able to experience the joy and freedom that movement can give. I believe that everyone should have a body that works, so then they can participate in whatever activities they want to in life.
